You guys…lately I have been gravitating to (read: LOVING) navy buffalo check. Which frankly feels oddly traditional for me, but I’m seeing it pop up everywhere. From couch pillows (swoon!), to fall apparel, to table linens and even upholstery. It’s really got me in the mood to freshen up the aforementioned categories in my life now that summer is almost a distant memory already. It just feels classic, crisp and very chic.
Halloween is a little more than a month away and for all you DIYers out there that love a good costume, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites! Halloween has always been one of my top-ranked holidays, so be prepared for a few posts centered around this topic. It’s fun, creative and there are no gifts involved-only candy. As a kid it was all about the sugar. As a young adult it was all about the parties. As a parent it is now ALL about dressing up your kiddo in the cutest costumes you can make or get your hands on.
The living room in our house is the one room that I never seem to be quite content with. It’s constantly evolving in my head and never seems to feel quite right. Whenever I’m in a total state of confusion it helps me to put all my design ideas in one place. I always start with a couch as the anchor and today I’m using the Remmington sofa from Arhaus as inspiration. I love how this sofa feels both transitional and fresh and it doesn’t hurt that it’s on sale right now! To see other sofas in the collection, you can jump over to their website. The nesting table (also pictured above) is so practical and sleek and offers a great use of space too-double score!

You guys, I have major cabin fever. I know what you are thinking…there isn’t even snow on the ground yet in Minneapolis and it’s only September. I’m not talking about the kind of cabin fever that you get from feeling claustrophobic, when you are isolated or in a solitary location. I’m talking about the kind of cabin fever that comes from planning the purchase of your very own cabin in the woods.
Who has seen the SNL skit on the “mom cut“? Hilarious right? It’s been joked about that women, once they have children, resort to what some would dub the “mom cut” and some ladies out there may be rocking and owning it. But I feel that there is an emerging group of mom’s that are looking for something that can be easily swept up out of their face when elbow deep in spaghetti stains or trying to keep their locks clear of spit-up, but are still hopeful to be thought of as trend setters all the while. Enter the lob, also known as the long bob. It’s long enough to rock a blow-out with some sexy waves, but easy to be pinned back for those mom moments when hair needs to be tamed when no child can be.
