    Friday Links

TGIF! I’m bringing back an old series that, prior to my hiatus, was a popular post on this blog. Friday Links is basically a round-up of some of my favorite links relating to the four categories I like to talk about on this blog; inspiration for your closet, palette, kiddo and living space. Without further adieu below are a few things that have caught my attention on the internet…

Closet-Over the knee boots are so damn flattering. At least on the 6-foot models I’ve seen them on in many of Pinterest images. Just when I think I officially own every boot there is to own (booties, knee-high, open toe…in both black and brown to cover all bases) a new style pops up. Currently coveting the over the knee boot, hoping to get out and try some on in the future.  Here’s hoping this 5’2″ girl can pull it off.

Palette-Looking for a healthy way to use all those honey crisp apples you hoarded and purchased from the apple orchard? This salad looks pretty delicious AND effortless. Greens topped with walnuts and apple slices almost feel like more of a dessert than a healthy side. Perfect addition for a fall meal!

Kiddo-I love the holidays. For me they kick-off with Halloween and don’t stop till after New Years. Actually I’m lying, Valentine’s Day. It is literally my way of getting through seasons that don’t involve flip-flops and 85 degree weather. I like to also drag them out and celebrate them as long as possible. These fun treats from Camille Styles had me all sorts of excited, especially with our upcoming Halloween party. Side note: for all you mom’s who love to send out Christmas cards, Zulily has a deal for up to 50% off Tiny Print coupons! Sale ends in 5 days!

Space-This photo of a well-organized tool and supply room is just TOO stinkin’ pretty. It gives me all the feels when I look at it. First of all, the color is amazing. I’ve been on a dreamy green/blue hue kick lately (see our recently painted bedroom here) and I love the hand-made shelves. See the tutorial on one of my favorite home blogs, Yellow Brick Home, here. With winter coming we have been needing to clean out our garage (it just makes things easier with the sludge) and this gives me all the motivation I need to do some tool organizin’!

Current Obsession // Navy Buffalo Check

You guys…lately I have been gravitating to (read: LOVING) navy buffalo check. Which frankly feels oddly traditional for me, but I’m seeing it pop up everywhere. From couch pillows (swoon!), to fall apparel, to table linens and even upholstery. It’s really got me in the mood to freshen up the aforementioned categories in my life now that summer is almost a distant memory already. It just feels classic, crisp and very chic. Read more…

    The return to Como Zoo

Last week we went to the Como Park and Zoo with some friends and had the best time! It was predicted to be in the mid-seventies on Friday so I knew I wanted to take the kids somewhere we could enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Read more…

    Birthday Cake Costume

Halloween is a little more than a month away and for all you DIYers out there that love a good costume, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites! Halloween has always been one of my top-ranked holidays, so be prepared for a few posts centered around this topic. It’s fun, creative and there are no gifts involved-only candy.  As a kid it was all about the sugar. As a young adult it was all about the parties. As a parent it is now ALL about dressing up your kiddo in the cutest costumes you can make or get your hands on.

    Living Room Inspiration-Mood Board.

The living room in our house is the one room that I never seem to be quite content with. It’s constantly evolving in my head and never seems to feel quite right. Whenever I’m in a total state of confusion it helps me to put all my design ideas in one place. I always start with a couch as the anchor and today I’m using the Remmington sofa from Arhaus as inspiration. I love how this sofa feels both transitional and fresh and it doesn’t hurt that it’s on sale right now! To see other sofas in the collection, you can jump over to their website. The nesting table (also pictured above) is so practical and sleek and offers a great use of space too-double score!

    Cabin Fever

You guys, I have major cabin fever. I know what you are thinking…there isn’t even snow on the ground yet in Minneapolis and it’s only September. I’m not talking about the kind of cabin fever that you get from feeling claustrophobic, when you are isolated or in a solitary location. I’m talking about the kind of cabin fever that comes from planning the purchase of your very own cabin in the woods.
