Well folks, we made it to the state fair but we did it all wrong. So terribly wrong. Upon learning that last Saturday the event saw 170,000 people, we opted to try going Sunday in hopes that it would be a little less crowded. This was a good idea, but unfortunately with Minnesota’s heat wave it didn’t really matter how many people were around, because we baked. So our first mistake was not getting there till 2:00 in the afternoon. Next we covered about a quarter of it not knowing there was butter carving, milkshakes straight from the dairy farm and an entire petting zoo we missed out on. What can I say? We are new at this. I can only assume it was good practice for next year when we will nail it and Ollie will be more interested anyway. Also, we didn’t indulge like one would think. We made sure to nab a pail of Sweet Martha Chocolate Chip cookies (we heard they are to die for) but didn’t partake in any novelty foods like gyro on a stick, bacon…yep just bacon and/or fried oreos. Nothing of that nature. Like I said, major fail. All in all it was still a fun family day and a day of firsts for our little kiddo. Oliver rode his first carousel and promptly pooped himself. It must have been exciting!
